Elizabeth II (1990‑2002)

The third version of the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was unveiled in 1990, when Her Majesty was 64 years old. This is the first effigy designed by a Canadian artist, Dora de Pédery-Hunt. It is surrounded by the Latin inscription ELIZABETH II D G REGINA.

Dollar – Loonie

In 1987, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a new dollar with a loonie on the reverse side, smaller than the traveler’s dollar and of a different composition and weight, so that this coin could be more easily differentiated from other denominations in circulation. When it was introduced, this dollar was made of nickel electroplated brass. Since 2012, the brass is iron plated to reduce production costs.

Brilliant Numismatic coin

This coin is part of an uncirculated set featuring the classic coins of the Royal Canadian Mint. The well-defined numismatic gloss reflects the exceptional quality of minting and the care taken to achieve a near-perfect surface.
