Elizabeth II (2003 to present)

Canadian artist Susanna Blunt creates the most recent effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by the inscription ELIZABETH II D G REGINA. A reminder to the effigy of Her Majesty’s father (1937-1952) that of George VI, who also chose to be represented without a crown.

Reverse 50th anniversary of the series

Fifty years later, the intensity and excitement of the 1972 Canada-Soviet Union (USSR) Century Series is still very much alive in the collective imagination of Canadians, as is the passion, boldness and determination of Team Canada. Their team spirit and legacy are proudly honored on the commemorative $2 2022 circulation coins contained in each special roll.

Team Canada Formation for the 1972 Century Series
Head Coach and General Manager (GM) : Harry Sinden (« HS » on the piece)
Assistant Coach/GM : John Ferguson (« JF »)

Did you know?
After the Canadian team combined to overcome a 1-3-1 deficit, some 15 million people (out of 22 million Canadians at the time) watched the eighth and final game, televised in homes, schools and even workplaces across the country.

Brilliant Uncirculated

This is the basic finish found on most standard circulation coins in Canada.
